Support for Public Safety / Emergency Services
Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders maintain a delicate balance between professionally performing their duties and living healthy personal lives. Just one of the numerous traumatic incidents these dedicated men and women are exposed to would often be a life changing event for most people.
However, the expectations of the public and the mandates of the given job role require a high degree of skill and service regardless of the circumstances. All too often, a paid or volunteer career that was motivated by a desire to serve the public ends up feeling more like self-sacrifice. This can have a negative affect on job performance, personal relationships, and overall health.
Behavioural Resources Australia is in a unique position to support public safety/emergency services personnel by providing consultation and training content that has a history of making a positive contribution to both the short and long-term well being of first responders. Working directly with Dan Petro, organisations have the opportunity to develop or provide services that will not only benefit the member or employee, but also benefit the organisation and the public by keeping skilled, motivated, and emotionally resilient personnel in the field.
For over a decade, Dan was a police academy instructor where over 3000 police recruits and 2000 veteran officers attended his Emotional Survival classes. Other subjects he taught included Supervising Personnel Under Stress; Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Investigations; and Interviewing Emotionally Distraught Victims, Witnesses, and Suspects.
Dan complements his instructional history with field experience as both a San Diego police officer, and a corpsman aboard U.S. Coast Guard rescue boats and helicopters.
